Description: In cooperation with the Human Resource Development of the University of Bonn, the Hausdorff Center offers an online-workshop "Planning and Optimizing Your Scientific Career" for all postdocs as part of the Hausdorff School soft skills program.
Today, a scientific career is characterized by increasing complexity, long times of temporary contracts, rapid change and intense competition. Young scientists are increasingly confronted with raising demands for quality improvement and excellence in everyday scientific life. Strategic career planning and individual solutions can help meet these expectations and successfully pave the academic path or timely find an exit strategy.
Program of the workshop:
- A career in science:
- What does it mean?
- What is needed to succeed?
- What do I have to offer?
- The "typical academic career" (in the German system and selected foreign systems)
- Career options for scientists outside academia
- Strategic planning of my career
This one-day workshop is limited to 14 participants. First come, first served.
Following an online-workshop, the opportunity of individual consultancy in an online-format (e.g. Zoom, Skype) through the trainer (certified system coach) is offered (1 hour / participant). In these sessions individual problem areas and solutions can be discussed.
Same rule here: First come, first served.
If you request this individual consultancy, please provide an up-to-date academic CV including information on publication record, record of third party funding acquisition and teaching experience 3 weeks in advance. Specific questions or goals for the consulting session should be formulated.
