Excellence Slam

August 27, 2018, 8:30-11:00

Location: Arkadenhof of the University of Bonn

Description:

The University of Bonn's two Clusters of Excellence - the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics (HCM) and ImmunoSensation - host a joint open-air science slam at the Arkadenhof of the University of Bonn, subsequent to the Bonner Stummfilmtage. They get supported by the student iGEM Team Bonn.

Each of the two Bonn clusters has invited three slammers from all over Germany to represent its science field (mathematics vs. biomedicine, involving adjacent areas). The slammers will try to popularize research topics and present science in an understandable and humorous way for the general public. The event will be opened by a non-competitive talk Schau mir in die Augen, Kleines! - Die Physik bei James Bond. Speaker is Melin Tolan, a professor for physics at the University of Dortmund.

The "competition" between the two clusters will be moderated by Thoralf Räsch, who represents the HCM, and David Fußhöller, who takes up the fight for ImmunoSensation. At the end, the audience will vote and the most popular slam will be awarded.
