Description: On Thursday, 8th of November, the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics (HCM) commemorates the 150th birthday of Felix Hausdorff. Members of the HCM will give information about the life and work of this exeptional jewish mathematician, philosopher and writer from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the city of Bonn (Bonngasse / Friedrichstraße), including a poster exhibition. At 11 a.m. Reinhard Limbach, mayor of Bonn, opens the ceremony. Also, at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. walks to the grave of the Hausdorff family are offered. During a stop at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics (HIM) on Poppelsdorfer Allee 45, visitors can browse the collected works of Felix Hausdorff and have coffee and cookies. In addition, at 12:30 p.m. there will be a bike tour to the various destinations with references to Felix Hausdorff: the stumbling blocks in front of his former quarters on Hausdorffstraße, the Hausdorff Research Institute, the commemorative plaque on Endenicher Allee 60 and the grave of the Hausdorff family.
