The department of mathematics mourns the death of Tim Lichtnau. Tim Lichtnau was an enthusiastic and talented student of mathematics. He was about to complete his master's thesis, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Floris van Doorn and Dr. Hugo Moeneclaey in Gothenburg (Sweden).

On a bicycle tour near Greifswald, Tim Lichtnau suffered a cardiac arrest on December 26, 2024, as a result of which he died. The news of his unexpected death leaves us deeply saddened.
